Followers of this thread will not be surprised to hear that there continues to be effectively no snow on the trails, unless one counts the 40 metres of skiable snow at La Glace de Clash (see photo). Off-trail, there is still 100m-plus on Clashindarroch's Snowgoose slope, which incidentally was graced by a shower of sleet at lunchtime. Snowgoose and other smaller patches surviving at the Timberline area were still sufficiently well-compacted today to make for comfortable walking. The cause of the rather disappointing season, of course, has been the continuous run of westerlies which blessed the western ski centres but left the Clash in a rain- shadow situation. Although the number of skiing days at Clashindarroch hasn't, so far, reached the annual average, it's still been several times better than the previous winter's handful of days, and some lucky skiers will savour the memory of an occasional rare day of almost Scandinavian conditions this winter. Maintaining a positive note, and looking at the records for the second half of March and the first half of April, there have been skiable days on the trails in 5 of the past 11 seasons. We can but hope!
