Despite all the media frenzy during winter about the 'Beast from the East', the general state of the 'usual' Scottish locations is not vintage. Without doubt some areas have fared better than others, but N, NE, E and SE-facing aspects are pretty much where you'd expect them to be.
That said, there are some very unusual patches still lurking in out-of-the-way places that normally have long gone by now.
As of yesterday, there were still sizable wreaths in Glentress forest, near Peebles (see here: [
twitter.com]), and the Campsies near Glasgow still had snow as of yesterday: [

I was up on The Cheviot on Sunday and I saw from afar some large wreaths on the usual Borders' hills. A few examples can be found in this album: [
