Interesting in the latest news letter:

We are targeting Easter Monday (22nd April) as the last day of skiing for the 2018/19 ski season so get up and enjoy lift assisted skiing and snowboarding while you still can. If we still have decent snow in the Main Basin beyond this date and there is the demand we will review but we are keen to get on with building the much delayed 3 man Rannoch Chairlift so we can have it running for next winter.

The new chair finally going in! Will really transform the look of the mid mountain I think.

Question for the Glencoe team, will it be able to "download" like the NR-quad to give quicker acces to and from the mountain in conditions like this weak (nearly no lower mountain snow, good upper mountain snow?).

Good idea for the download. Would seem silly not to implement it as i guess it just needs a wider platform.

Question is...why cant they keep main basin open and begin the new chair? Works would be pretty far away from the skiable area.

Carsey, To be able to download also needs a different configuration of wheels on the towers but certainly something we are planning to do.

On the question of keeping the Main basin open we certainly will as long as there is the demand but despite the great weather this week we were struggling at times to get into double figures as far as skiing customers went. It's the same staff that currently keep the lifts running that will be building the chair, not worked out how to have them in 2 places at the same time yet.

Hows the snow factory keeping up with the sunnier conditions? Is it just producing enough to keep the sledging run open or could/would it be possible to make a skiing loop like originally planned?

carsey, It's more than dealing with the sunny weather. It's not only keeping the sledging area complete it's ensuring a skiable route back to the Plateau cafe down Old Mugs Alley and keeping a beginners area on Old Mugs Alley for ski and snowboard lessons with ski school. Unfortunately would take a couple of weeks to re-build the Coire Pollach Uptrack during which time we would likely lose the run. Unfortunately we really needed a big unit like the one that went in at Cairngorm or we need to work out a way to put artificial matting on the Coire Pollach uptrack in a way that doesn't create issues for the groomers. This year has been a learning process, we will do better with it next year.

Yes, some updates through the summer on the chair installation would be much appreciated. Any news on online ticket purchasing? There was a hint some time ago it might be coming at some point, but heard nothing since.

Ad_hynkel, Online ticketing and ski hire is partially complete. Unfortunately the really poor season meant we had to pull the plug on it in mid February. Most of the hardware is in place so won't take much to get it operational. We're going to need a really busy summer though to have the cash to complete it. Most likely it will come into operation a few weeks into next season once we get some money in the bank again. Will post pictures of the chairlift as it goes up but again no guarantees this can be completed after the really poor winter. Everything is in place now to complete it other than the cash we need.

Made it up to the main basin today for some 50th Birthday turns. And a big thank you to the Glencoe crew for being open and having turns mid week in mid April. Really enjoyed myself despite the craggy weather. The main basin should hold up to the weekend so if you want Last turns in 20 degree zunshine get up there this weekend.

Also, great to see the new road up (I have an idas to ride the CX bike up it at some point) and around, the new piste bashes garage and the general feeling of the hill being not just poked after but upgraded. Feels like the Coe will be going for the next 50 years.

In the past it was said the internet was insufficient for this to be practical. Has this changed?

jabuzzard, speeds from BT have dramatically improved over the last few months. Not sure how it works but they seem to be getting a higher speed connection now from the mobile phone mast. With decent speeds on mobile networks and our adsl lines we are at last in a position to bring online ski hire and ticketing into play. However our big concern still is if the mast goes down for any reason then both mobile and landline services will be shot.

Get up if you're good and fit. Lovely skiing in the top basin, hard work lower down and fairly narrow. Thanks to the guys and girls for staying open, despite just a few skiers.

Gorgeous day, lovely resort.
