Looks like a whiteout on the hill. Let's hope this is the storm that puts down a substantial base for the season

It has been hovering around 0.8-1C all afternoon at the SSC hut. Good enough for the upper mountain I guess but maybe not so good below. It all looks pretty soggy at the moment across the plateau. Though if this keeps coming in overnight and the freezing level drops down the mountain further then we should be in a good place. Fingers crossed...

Carsey,
the camera went off.
you aren't telling me you sit and watch it all day are you?
anyhow all good if it's back on, and hopefully that tows fixed.
pity they can't do maintenance in the 9 months of the year when there's no snow.

Most time it’s open in the background so only gets refreshed when I go to
Look. The cams go black occasionally. If there was something to hide then they would still be off wouldn’t they.

Split, Would be great if this thread could be kept for Glencoe snow conditions. Sorry to disappoint but no conspiracy, Coire Pollach webcam has been on all week and yes maintenance was carried out on Coire Pollach this summer. Thankfully the bearing failure happened when we were quiet and the tow will be up and running again before the busy mid term period.

Great news is that it's chucked it down with snow for most of the day on the upper and mid mountain and it's looking good for Sunday for Summit to the top of the Access Chair skiing and snowboarding.

Aye maybe should start a thread on the basics of general machine maintenance, bearings are one of those things, guaranteed to "go" on poorly maintained eqpt.

ah igloo, yes i'm sure you'd like that wouldn't you.
but the happy go lucky "just one of those things" times are over for Scottish snowsports.

Now, I preferred the old days, but the modern customer wants properly maintained lifts that don't just get fixed when they break, that have proper maintenance schedules, and heaven forbid someone comes to inspect the facilities from those nice safety people.

It's sad but that's what the people want.
I just hope you've moved on with the times.

and I hope you do get some snow up there.

Split, think we agree on something at last "modern customer wants properly maintained lifts" that have "proper maintenance schedules". Good news is that's what we have at Glencoe however even with best maintenance schedule stuff is still going to break. Wish it didn't but that's the reality.

I follow manufacturers maintenance schedule for my car yet it's broken down so yes sometimes it's "just one of those things".

Not really sure who you are and whether your issue is with me or the ski centre but as I said previously happy to discuss any and all issues perceived or otherwise. Andy 07977 553901.

Do a 'Windy' and keep the thread topped up wi decent pics of conditions, scenery and what that snow factory is producing etc.. That should keep calm in here and might even keep the wee cairngrorm warrior happy , who probably has an issue with this website and is taking out on yous.

Points for sticking yer number up...

-0.1 at scc, and pishing down, in Kinloch, could well be game on at last.

Snow was good yesterday between rocks good to feel the cliffy chair under me airse still managed to ski to access, cost Beano a set of skis tho.
Definitely, no liking the bottom corner of mugs anymore seems fretty pucked up and dodgy now. that was always a good fast corner after the second roller now its not, it's shite.
see you up there Sunday

Upper and mid mountain looking well filled now. I think we might have a season now. Plateau coverage isn't looking so good after the sleet/rain/wind but at least it is still there. Hoping Sunday doesn't turn into one of those park on the A82 days...

Filled, relative to last w/e, yes, but "well-filled" is not a term I'd use. The webcams show Main Basin to have caught a bit, but Spring Run to be pretty bony, and the Canyon and/or Flypaper, nae danger.

If you know the mountain well, have sacrificial skis, and an "exploratory mindset", you could have a great day.
