(Partially) Fake News... CGM(S) content

Cairngorm Mountain built a multi-million-pound artificial slope, which now remains to be the only functioning piste at the tragedy-stricken resort.

Just been talking about that... Thankfully the CNPA came to the only sensible decision that could have been taken on what was the wrong slope, of the wrong material, in the wrong location for completely the wrong reasons!

Unfortunately there is still one more of Natural Retreats gems in the planning pipeline and HIE seem intent on following it through. How they can seriously take a multimillion £ rebuild of the Ptarmigan Restaurant to planning this month when there is currently no means of getting people to it and not yet known what the long term prognosis for the Funicular is just beggars belief.

Irrespective of the future of the Funicular, the Ptarmigan plan is again the wrong thing, in the wrong place, for lots of wrong reasons. Not least the fact the Ptarmigan is in cloud too much of the time!

A high quality dining facility lower down the mountain would do significantly more to help improve the year round visitor experience and make CairnGorm more weather proof. Whether that be at the Shelling with a refurbished Funicular or at the bottom of the Ciste T-bar at the top of a new 2 stage chair, gondola or combo lift from the Ciste Carpark.

On the scope for a more sensible, skier focussed, yet year round viable future for CairnGorm Mountain, some good news in that HIE has awarded almost £100k of funding to the Community Trust to employ a project manager and admin assistant for 2 years.

There is a business breakfast event to be held in the Macdonald Aviemore Resort on Wednesday 1st May, hosted by HIE, 8am for an 8.30 start regarding the Funicular and future of CairnGorm.
