So I was just being a geek and flicking through the hundreds of resorts that are getting new lifts this summer and seeing what they were getting. Out of nowhere, and I had not heard anything about it: A 4 person to replace Cairnwell T-Bar and a 3 person to replace Meal Ohdar T-bar.

If true good on Glenshee for continually investing and trying to open up snow sure runs. Hope the gamble pays off.

Planning permission was granted for the Cairnwell Quad Chair in 2016 - partial funding was offered for it, but after construction of the triple chair and experience of operating that and how people used it a decision was taken to not progress the quad chair plan. The funding that was available was re-directed to a near total rebuild of the Caenlochan Poma and partial refurbishments / upgrades of several other Pomas.

As far as we are aware no final alignment was ever decided upon for building a Meall Odhar Chairlift and no planning application has been submitted for such a lift.

Suspect the information on skiresort.info was entered some time ago, though it should be trivial to extend the 2016 planning application if it was decided to go ahead with the Cairnwell Quad.

There is an argument such a lift would be more useful up Carn Aosda, but it would have significant exposure to the prevailing wind direction.

Carn Aosda makes more sense in many ways and from memory was on the "masterplan" document.

It would enhance snow sports and probably give a new dimension to summer visitors.

But, right now, it feels a very long way off.

Glenshee have invested very wisely to refurbish lifts and as Alan rightly says, Caenlochan was essentially replaced. At the risk of thread hi jacking... anyone spot some new chairs at Glencoe?
