What's it all about?

Various lifts don't appear to have been maintained for a number of years now (will Warrens or Braveheart ever run again?), they wait until 5th Jan (why not the close season?) before scheduling essential Gondola maintenance which is announced without an end date, and they say will be 'ready to go' for skiing once there is enough snow although it can be seen that the Quad doesn't yet have any chairs on, and recent visitors say there is enough snow at the summit and upper Goose to be open already.

Last year there was great conditions here and they didn't open. Do they remain - really - interested in providing a meaningful ski offering? They say they do, but the opinion in the community seems to be that their actions don't back this up. I'd love for them to prove that wrong. The mention of 'Snowsports' is now 8th on their 'activity' list on their website - beneath orienteering, although above Conference Space.

Winterhighland Ltd highlighted on facebook that their official website was still listing lift pass prices were from the 2023-24 season - two seasons ago! I am also concerned that, without the long-standing ski patrol members there anymore, that the days of managed skiing in the backs are gone for good. Are their present staff able to provide reassurance to dispel these worries? Their social media is astonishing: a repetitive formula of posts every day, largely ignoring current affairs, but instead projecting cake, mountain biking, and summer sight seeing - each post intended to inspire, but largely ignoring content that would engage and interest people seasonally.

The proof is in the pudding as they receive just 5-10 'likes' to each post. Other venues (see cairngorm, Glencoe) receiving hundreds if not thousands of 'likes'. What a sad shame. Let's hope actions this winter can speak louder than words.

I am so disappointed by what is going on at Nevis Range in regard to Wintersports :-(. its a real shame.
you can see from the webcams that there is plenty of snow, but you can also see that there are no tows on the lines :-(
I do appreciate that snowsports in Scotland is not what it used to be and i do appreciate that it may not be economically viable to run alone, but all the resorts are diversifying into other activities to ensure all year round income, which is great, especially from the employees and local economies

Nevis Range is a business and if they have decided not to do snowsports anymore, that is absolutely ok - its a business decision after all.
BUT if this is the case it would be great to take all the tows/chair out and rewild the mountain rather than just let them rust away
AND to sell or donate the Snowfactory / Poste Machines to the other resorts who are up for giving it a go

If any public money was used for the Nevis range ski centre, this should be removed immediately.
It's an absolute disgrace this centre is closed with the amount of they currently have.
Even a limited are would show they are trying..

It appears that Nevis Range, is throwing its hand in with winter sports. If this is a business decision then this is understandable, as Scottish skiing will be declining in the next few years.
They do however seem to want to invest elsewhere.

If this project goes ahead, then it will be good for the Cowal Peninsula. Again they will be concentrating on year round sports, and visitor attractions. There is a half hearted discussion about a dry slope, but it does not look as though they will be in a rush to provide this.

Was at Nevis this week and spoke to a member of staff who explained that the plan going forwards was to only run Alpha, Goose and Summit. Operating in this way allowed them to offer skiing in a sustainable way, and this had only been made possible thanks to some staffing changes higher up. They were running Goose + Alpha and trying to get the Summit running with only three members of staff, alongside volunteers and I think a few casual workers. Good to see it open and a few hundred skiers enjoying blue skies and great snow - you could ski almost anywhere from the Goose gully to Warrens T-Bar.

So this photo that was posted on Friday in the Pix from the Slopes and on our Facebook page has been posted now 4 times on the Nevis Range post from Friday - each time it's been deleted.

A ski area actively trying to deny that it has snow! People can make their own minds up about the current regime at the Nevis Range Development Company. Just remember that when you've made your mind up, keep it to yourself, case you get a knock on the door!

Wonder when they'll decide to ban the SAIS for taking photographs of mystery white stuff on Aonach Mor?
