Came across some info on the "Pushing Winter" short film made by a Scottish snowboarder which won the best film prize at the Edinburgh Mountain Film Festival a couple of years ago. Would love to see it. Anyone know were it might be possible to get hold of a copy?

There's a thread here about it. One of the guys left an email address to contact, and he can get in touch with Paul Raistrick (the film maker).

"Pushing Winter" is an excellent film. Features Paul Raistrick snowboarding down various grade I and II gullies all over Scotland - including Ben Nevis and Northern Corries. Amazing thing is that he made it all himself... placed the camera, descended the gully, then climbed back upto to retrieve the camera.

Got the DVD through from Paul at the weekend. Fantastic stuff. Not much in the way of spraying big rooster tails in bottomless powder but lots and lots of steep lines ridden on what mostly looks like soft-surfaced neve. Really enjoyed it, but cursed every time I saw another one of my hoped-for "first descents" slain...

Paul included "Pushing Winter", another (similar) film called "The Old Rock" and a third film chroniciling a (mostly) climbing trip to Baffin Island. The two scottish snowboarding films include footage shot everywhere from Ben Lui to the Gorms to Torridon.

If anyone else wants to see it, drop me an email and I'll pass on Paul's address, but be aware that he's leaving the country for the winter!
