Nevis Range Snow 2015
Date Posted: 09.10hrs on Fri 5 Dec 14
With a covering of snow below the top station this morning and more on the way it seems about time to start a Nevis Range thread for the new season.

Lets hope we get a good season with plenty of snow but more importantly more settled days than last year to get out and enjoy it!

Great photo :-)

Shame the gondola's off though :-(

- As probably enough for a spot of skinning and a few turns on the Summit Run....

There was wet snow falling at sea level in Fort William for a while this morning after the above webcam shot was taken so the hill is looking even whiter now.

Looks like very little drifting though which is what has given the illusion of a nice white blanket. Probably not much more than a few inches, but still a start !!

The lack of drifting problem should change next week... as long as the temperature stays cold enough for the bulk of the precipitation to come down as snow on the West Coast mountains there could be some impressive totals, though there's likely to be some thaw/freeze cycles.

Nae chance, and I'd expect it to be buried too. My guess is they'll have enough of a struggle getting the lifts front of mountain ready to think about even digging it out.

Booked the Fort Bill Travelodge on Saturday. Hopefully the forecasts come good for the weekend.

I certainly hope so, there has been huge volumes of snow over the last 72hrs in the west, if it was level, which obviously it isn't, we'd be looking at 2-3ft of new snow since the start of the week, at least.

The main concern is what wind damage might have been sustained as they've been up way over 100mph again today. No doubt the hill staff will need a day or two to get the hill prepared and fixed up before the upper lifts can open and we can get to the good terrain. Lets hope the weather tomorrow allows them get up on the hill and get a start on things.

On a positive note the forecast looks like staying cold/cool for the rest of the month but also settling down a bit. Unlike last season we might finally be in for an extended period of good conditions, at last!

The clouds have finally cleared and the webcam views show the results of the recent storms. Looks like the usual suspects have filled in pretty well, bring on the weekend !!
