Hi Telemarker -- Happy New Year to yourselves. Clashindarroch is like the curate's egg today -- "good in parts", but cannot really be recommended unless you know where to find the good bits. Very little extra snow has been added since Friday afternoon's snowfall. Where there is snow, it's 3-5cm deep -- crisp and fast due to temperature being zero (very nice actually); but the downside is that there are long unskiable stretches, e.g. Classic Start almost to Short Cut (re-graded section of road surface); Leids Leap (impossible). Short Cut and Range Way have mostly thin cover on grass; and Range Way was too fast for me. The good bits were from top of Short Cut to the mobile phone mast (delightful); and the descent of Deer Track. I imagine that the mid-part of the Haute Route, from Barns of Haddoch to foot of Snowgoose will be good too, but I didn't look at that today. The Range and Little Range have full cover but with lots of veg poking through. The Buck looked pretty but the limited snow depth would mean thrashing through heather and rocks.

Happy new year Colin and thanks for update
I will wait for further snowfall then, as sounds like a fair bit of walking is required

I didn't ski today but went for a run along the Haute Route which has pretty much continuous snow cover from the mobile mast all the way to Herringbone Hill. Enough cover to make it worthwhile for our club juniors to do some training there tomorrow but probably not enough for someone who wants to do a tour.

Let's hope the wait for more snow isn't a long one.

Any remaining snow on the Clashindarroch trails has been hard hit by this afternoon's thaw, resulting in insufficient snow for skiing (for the time being anyway).

The snow has reached Clashindarroch this afternoon, with about 4cm depth at the main entrance by 3.30pm, and a temperature of 0 degrees. As it was snowing heavily, with drifting in exposed areas, I didn't linger. Given the mild temperatures since last weekend there's likely to be little or no base under the fresh snow. It looks like there's more snow to come, but road conditions could be difficult, and anyone reaching the car park may find a shovel useful.

Quite a few folk out today at Clashindarroch, but with the snow depth amounting to only 5-6cm and rising temperatures the skiing was somewhat limited and the snow was thawing and wearing thin. The question now is whether any will outlast the rain before the possible return of snow showers on Monday.

As expected, less than 2cm left -- thawing and not skiable. Good that there was enough for folk on Sunday.

The snowfall that brought such a huge amount to Aviemore delivered a less than generous 4-5cm to Clashindarroch, but several groups found it was possible to ski there today. Leids Leap remained unskiable on the critical steep bends. Finding that Classic Start, the Main Drag and Highland Fling had been snowploughed was a bit of a shock, but it turns out to have been a one-off mission to rescue a stuck vehicle.

Time to head a bit further West I think timberline ? I think I will be doing that on Friday
Shame the snow fall hasn't pushed through further East for clash.

Had a quick ski at clash this afternoon after skiing in better conditions near Tomintoul.

Clash is skiable, but thin in places. Older skis preferable. More snow forecast Saturday night, so I think it will be better on Sunday

Great to have this report and photos, Telemarker. When do you think today's snow arrived at the Clash -- clearly since Wednesday as the snowploughed road is white again? You're right to expect a good amount of snow on Saturday evening, judging by the latest Met Office East Highland Forecast. The shift to a northerly wind is just what the Clash needs!

There was snowfall last night which must have been wet snow which froze later, because the snow on road was very crunchy. I stopped at clash at 9.30am before carrying onto Tomintoul and drove through heavy snow shower. When i returned to clash at 2.30 my tyre tracks had been covered by 2-3cm of fresh snow.
