And I'm sure that when the Winch Cat driver said the West Wall Poma rope was off on 2 towers the fixers were shown on a T-bar!

Correct !! Did the Numpties who work up there not get a final pre broadcast view and input.
Adam said the rope was off the WWPoma...yet the guys were Tirforing the Ciste T bar !

Loads more that this amateur ski-area manager saw !

Lets parks the usual winterhighland moans about the McGorms to one side.
There is a 100+ page rant for that winking smiley

I actually thought it was a decent documentary.
A bit of easy viewing prime time viewing in the 7.30pm fluff spot just before Eastenders. In that context who cares about a little bit of creative editing ?

Some nice shots of the snowy mountains and interesting character interviews. Most importantly it promoted Scottish skiing to the masses positively (with no mention of global warming or poor seasons). Plus it may make the average punter realise how challenging the weather can be on the Scottish hills ?

Could have been much worse.

It was just the 1st episode...but...it was great to see The Skiing Doo, La Taverna and [to a lesser extent] The Cairngorm Hotel all get a good 'plug' terrific publicity for them directly and the area in general.
Hopefully there will be more coverage of the actual skiing/boarding in future episodes.

Kind regards

It was a good enough advert for cairngorms and certain businesses, it should get more zombies up there this winter I guess..

The continuity errors were a bit grating, eg hanging T-Bars on a Poma button lift.

However, all that aside I'd agree with the other comments that it's nice to see a positive presentation of Scottish Skiing in a prominent slot on TV.

Bit of a shame it's BBC Scotland only (I'm south of the border), however I was able to watch it on iPlayer.

Yup, just watched down here on iplayer. I agree, great promotional opportunity and the aerial shots are super. Also, seeing behind the scenes of the operation is fascinating.

Watched it last night. Actually pleasantly surprised with it to be honest - didnt think it was a bad watch at all.

Yeah for folk who know the area and the operations well, there were a few things which you could pick faults with..... but for those watching it with no prior knowledge of Cairngorm or snowsports - I daresay it provides a pretty good insight.

Kinda reminded me a lot of the 'airport' kinda documentaries you get - I'm sure folk who work in that industry could pick many flaws in those as well, but for the rest of us, the mistakes go un-noticed.

watched this last night too, not bad at all i thought, series linked anyway. Did think the stuff up the hill was far more interesting than the stuff in the town, but hey-ho.

I assume this was filmed last season though? (from the mention of HIE in the credits) would be interesting to see a season 2 to see what changed now NR have taken over. Would also be cool to see the other resorts given similar treatment

+1 for that. I'm also hoping that some of the later episodes at least mention the other areas so that the perception of Cairngorm as "the only place to Ski in Scotland" doesn't get re-enforced any more than is necessary.

It struck me as barely disguised advertising with a weak narrative/ storyline trying to hold it together, and with weak production and continuity values too. In places, it was more an innovatively presented economic impact assessment than a documentary.

I'm fascinated to know who/ which organisation managed to persuade the BBC to commission it - I'm sure someone pulled some strings to get that made.

That said, it's not all bad - some great characters, fascinating to see some of the inner workings.
