Ski toured up Cairnwell side yesterday, Sun 5th Feb. Some fun turns and fresh tracks to be had - albeit with quite heavy snow and thin to heathery cover in places.

The weather closed in and it snowed heavily at times. Must have warmed up a bit as by about 2pm the snow became very sticky.

Always nice to be out so a fun day - but a fair bit more snow needed to get lifts spinning on the Cairnwell.

Don't even know if glenshee has sunk in a bore hole today...as they are keeping it secret what might be open tomorrow, or ever

Is it just open for school parties???

They were planning to run the Dink Dink today for school groups only, but there was enough to operate the Claybokie as well. However where they pisted it's churned up into a bit of a mess in places because the snow is sticky - can see it on Sunnyside, so they maybe waiting to see if an overnight frost dries everything out a bit more or whether to wait another night. CairnGorm explicitly are not opening tomorrow but hope to offer something on Thursday.

Great set-up for loads more easterly showers at Glenshee next 3 or 4 days, easily another 30 cm, maybe a lot more. Not picked up by a few of the forecast models as it's a) showers, b) small scale.

I hope so!! Booked Monday-Tuesday off work to drive up from Leeds.. Can anyone recommend any good spots to wild camp (not too wild mind..) nearby? First time venturing east as Coe/NR is my usual destination..

It was snowing continuously today at Glenshee, with varying intensity. The conditions on Sunnyside improved during the day.

If coming from the south note that the A93 is closed south of Blairgowrie at the bridge over the River Isla until into March.

I expect to be heading for Glencoe at the weekend however just in case Glenshee gets a real dump at sometime this season ...... what is the alternate route to get to Glenshee from Perth? Is there a clear signposted diversion?

thanks

No reports I can find of the A93 road being closed at the bridge over the Isla. Are you sure?

Take the luncarty cut off A9 and head through Stanley. Can follow Blairgowrie signs from there I'm sure
