Although if it was a Planning condition to have character, there are plenty of characters hanging around the Plateau Chateau that may well meet the required criteria.
Anyway is the Plateau Chateau not a listed building?

Pretty much all the mountain buildings going up recently in France have been steel framed. Its all about the finish - loads of timber and local stone. Yes - if you cover it in gray plastisol steel sheets it will look out of character. All of the existing ski infrastructure could be made more 'pleasing to the eye' with a bit of thought and some money.

Not sure we need to save the Chateau - it'll be safe. HIE will donate the train to Glencoe as part of some elaborate tax write off - the Eagles will then get a major upgrade.

Interestingly the new map shows two formerly off-piste routes on Meall Odhar as official red runs, and has also added two blue runs leading of the mid-point of the Glas Maol poma. Presumably if these are now marked routes, we can expect them to be piste-bashed from time to time?

The new map does a good job of giving an impression of the shape of the terrian, but it continues to repeat the fictional 1500ft/457m vertical (with a typo claiming 9457m!). As far as I can tell you have to ski down to the A93 below the ski centre from Glas Maol to achieve it.

What is the area on Glas Maol marked as West Wall meant to denote (in Glenshee's view)?

That it's often frozen harder than bricks?

Nice map from Glenshee there. I’ll remind them of the wee error concerning the descent - maybe it’s measured in cm to the power of 3 and then divided by 3!

Anyone notice the rope tow between sunny side chairlift and the clunny Pom’s? I think it went in around 2016/2017 but I didn’t notice it till the winter just gone

The 9 in 9457 is just a bracket typo. Or maybe if you ski every run, in alphabetical order, it is the cumulative descent...?

It’s a good map. Draping the contours has given a good impression of the longer and steeper runs. Good to see the blue runs to the right and below the glas moal poma bend marked. I was always a bit uncertain about that area. Good skiing there though so nice to see it’s a legitimate area to ski.

You're right, somebody forgot turn it to face the other way, I'm guessing they just copied the template for the Cairnwell side. GS are good at running a ski area, but are pretty poor when it comes to advertising, they do so much good work that they fail to shout about as loudly as they could, while making silly mistakes.

I guess the reason for including the previously unofficially titled ‘West Wall’ is so there’s no ‘confusion’ when people are told by ski patrol to stay off it.

Good to see the addition of the Thunderbowl and the rail park too (hopefully this means they will be more committed to the cause!). Scree Dodger is a new one for me.

Also noted that Claybokie is now highlighted as a beginner lift as is the Baddoch chair. I’m not sure what the situation was last year as I wasn’t up much but presumably this means these will be covered under the beginners pass which will offer hugely better value. It was always a hard sell when beginners progrsss beyond the dink dink and had to pay up the full £30 straight away.

Yes Glenshee always undersell themselves, but you have to admire them for that. So much better to have a better day than you expected than the opposite. They are the pole opposite to Natural Retreats and thereby tend to win skiers hearts and minds
