Two of the remaining nine tows are required to be closed.

Ah FFS it gets better and better.

It is clear that profit, profit and eh, profit is all that NR was interested in.

This is despite £1.1m of public funds being invested in the surface tows during Natural Retreats tenure. Though the fact that was required raises questions about what was going on under HIEs previous tenure.

People often say cockup is more likely than conspiracy with public bodies. How many cockups does it take to be a conspiracy? Doh!

Are we going to see a snow factory pumping out snow that nobody can ski on?

It's the Cas tow and the West Wall poma .... they're expected to be open again by the 8th of February. Bit of a nightmare till they're re-opened, but it's only 3 weeks (if they get approval), and we need a lot more snow to open the runs anyways. Wonder if they'll reduce the prices again in the meantime

It's the Ciste T-bar and WWP. Will significant snow impact the work?

There is something very wrong here. Coire na Ciste is the only run in Scotland that could have been open for lift accessed skiing so far this winter. Despite a snow-less January the gully is still holding snow (and was complete over xmas) However the lifts have been left to rot.

Meanwhile £1 million has recently been spent in adjacent Coire Cas in a desperate attempt to make artificial snow confused smiley

Clearly the corporate view that the Ciste is
unviable as a ski area has been vindicated, removal of all tow infrastructure in this area should commence any day now....

Is there no end to this sorry saga.

"Two tows, the Coire na Ciste T Bar and the West Wall Poma, are currently subject to HSE improvement notices. These notices were issued in December to the previous operating company while it was in administration. Both the affected tows are high up on the mountain and require good levels of snow cover to run.

This will half the capacity on the hill and further reduce the numbers prepared to visit this winter...I feel great sadness for the businesses in the area and locals who invest more than money

Be Nice to Skiers, they have it hard enough already

Never ending problems at Cairngorm due to sheer incompetence and ignorance of the previous owners, hopefully this should be the last debacle, HIE need to get all the problems sorted out before for next season.

The root cause of much of this is a longer term problem that has hamstrung Cairngorm for far too long. There is a common denominator in this saga regardless of who has held the keys in the last few decades.

The continuation of this sad story is already underway........despite the myths that are being propagated by some very blind hangers on.

It beggars belief that a ski area in the most consistently cold and snowy few square miles of these islands is managed so comically poorly. You couldn't make it up. The utter incompetence is breathtaking.

Very well put...
It probably couldn't be worse run if you actually tried.

Given the new snow and it is now 9 Feb, are these tows expected to open when overhead (wind) conditions allow? ie Tomorrow?
