I just phoned Cairngorm "They are being worked on at the moment", but are not open, and as far as I can ascertain, not going to open tomorrow.

questions for somebody that works there, or knows the ins-and-outs.
Do the owners/operators of the ski infrastructure employ a team of full time fitters to carry out daily/weekly inspections and carry out routine maintenance; and when required, repairs and overhauls etc?
Do the owners/operators of the ski infrastructure in this case have a set budget that is spent on inspections, maintenance and repairs? (i.e. wages, tools, parts etc.)
I can understand that the train might be a different kettle of fish and require specialist contractors for anything other than routine maintenance.
If they do employ fitters, and the fitters are given the resources to do their job, how the feck does it get into this state?

when I was up on the hill the other day I had a look at the lifts in question.
some big walkways and railing have been constructed.
looks more like safety of the workforce than safety of the public was the concern.
The HSE don't appear to be happy with workers clipping onto towers anymore.
I just hope the smaller ski areas have the funds available to upgrade their lifts in similar fashion.
and once again well done to those who devoted so much effort highlighting the problem to HSE

yeah looks like the workers platforms have been well built, certainly a lot of material gone into them.
I wonder what they cost.
No sign of any of the required work having been done for public safety though.
I wonder if some of those nasty rumours being shouted on here before weren't a bit short on facts.
Again.

You cannae be fecking serious, rumours on the internet?! Now I know yer full of pish if ya think that's such a thing. You should tell the bbc, they'd print that shite..
Anyway, probably far too much material has went intae them now it 100% public money that's paying for it.. I hope they used some quality hardwoods and titanium now it's well funded, built to last or a good re-sale value should be the thinking up there noo before someone that knows what they are doing takes over....

Its not rocket science to clean the rust, fit a galvanised washer and nut, torque to spec and either give it a blast of rustoleum galv spray or put some denso tape over it. This goes for all the resorts. How about more ambassadors and a summer work party to paint/litter pick.

>>Chamonix the 15/03/2019
Closure of the gondola Bochard from this day, for a minimum duration of one week, for security measure.
A day pass for the Grands Montets site will be marketed and costs € 40 on the duration of the closure of the facility as well as 10% off stays rates CLP (Chamonix Le Pass)
Given the climate changes, the Company Mont-Blanc regularly conducts geometric and geophysical measurements on its ski lift installations.
The latest results of the recurrent measures carried out on the anchorages of the arrival station of the Bochard gondola show a major solicitation of one of the six tie rods forcing us, as a safety and prevention measure, to close the cable car the next days for an intervention on the sill (cantilevered concrete beam) supporting the last three pylons.
Note that the station structure controls are carried out recurrently since 2016 by external consulting firms, as well as monthly by our in-house teams, and supervised by the project manager DCSA, who is mandated to perform this task on a mission basis. 'technical assistance.
They are the result of a misalignment of the cable that was found during the winter of 2015-2016, requiring a realignment of the geometry of the works making up the arrival station. We then made the decision, for a good understanding of the dysfunction, to complete these controls by regular geophysical measurements of the ground; the measurement carried out in September 2018 did not reveal any significant movement.
However, since a new geometric deviation at the entrance of the station was detected during the monthly control of the month of February 2019, in mid-February 2019 we requested a first expertise firm for a geophysical measurement to verify the constraints acting on the anchorages. .
To support this first analysis, we asked at the beginning of March a second firm of expertise, with different methods of calculation.
We have just been informed of the results of these measures.
The recorded movement is in no way related to a mechanical and / or electrical problem on the gondola.
This overvoltage phenomenon is due to the geomorphological evolution of the area and the probable impacts of permafrost.
The operation, which should immobilize the ski lift facility for a minimum of one week, will consist in stabilizing the displacement found at the end of the sill, currently causing the tie rods to overvolve.
More work will be done this summer to reinforce the existing anchorages, with a current depth of 12 meters, and put in place a sustainable sill stabilization system.
A regular update will be made to keep you informed of the reopening date of the gondola that we hope for as quickly as possible.
We would like to apologize to our clientele, socio-pros, and anyone directly or indirectly impacted by this unexpected closure, beyond our control .
<<
1. We monitor our infrastructure on a monthly basis
2. We've found a problem and here is exactly what the problem is
3. This is what we are going to do about it
4. We've told you about it as soon as possible and here's some money off for any hassle.
Any lessons to be learned from this?

Main lesson, is for Individuals in HIE (and certain elements of the "Team" on Cairngorm) to start telling the truth, instead of persistent lies !!
But both have gone so far down the road of doing this, there is now no chance of regaining any credibility !!
Not just my opinion.....but the opinion of many people who have taken a lot of time and a lot of effort to investigate !!
