Glenshee 2020/2021
Date Posted: 09.48hrs on Fri 4 Dec 20
Interestingly on the Glenshee instagram they had 5 cannons going last night alongside the Snowfactory.

After dropping the a message it turns out they've got 3 new TF10's for this season alongside the one the previously owned an older T40 - Should make a big difference to the beginners areas.

Anyone know if they've received additional investment from HIE for the new guns or are they self funded?

I see their Twitter account has been suspended. Did they get hacked/password guessed?

Perhaps it was a disgruntled ski tourer, aghast at the prospect of paying £15 per day to tour at Glenshee this season?!

I see that the webcam has been moved. It used to be just below the Claybokie Poma and gave almost 360 degrees coverage.
It is now at the top of the Baddoch Chairlift looking towards the car park and Sunnyside and doesn't appear to have the same wide coverage. You certainly can't seem to pan round to see the likes of Cairnwell and Butchart's runs. There are pins which allow you to zoom into views of the various lifts/runs such as Cairnwell, Butchart's Access and Caenlochan but the lens is blocked and so it's impossible to see the view.

Think you'll find the webcam is now at the top of sunnyside chairlift. A much better location for it

Poor visibility may have given that impression, but the camera is on a mast above the top lift hut at the top of the Sunnyside Chairlift. Obviously the view on the panoroma is more distant of Claybokie but it provides a far more extensive coverage of the ski area than was possible from the foot of Claybokie. You have full vision now of the entire Cairnwell side now, plus more than 3/4s of the Meal Odhar and Caenlochan Pomas, plus most of the Home Run to Tom Dearg.

It's way better now than where it used to be. Brilliant for assessing up to date snow coverage. A massive improvement.

......although for some reason it's better when accessing it from glenshee's own website, than via winterhighland. Only 3 location zoom-ins with winterhighland but 9 when going in to webcam via glenshee website.

Ski Tour Tikets!
What’s this all about?
I guess they can only control use of the pistes. Keep off those and you are free to tour?
Is it a fee for using the car park?
If so can you still park at the top of the hill?
You have to wonder why they are trying to put off ski tourers also having a day on piste, I do equal of both.

Are you planning to use *any* of the facilities of the ski centre ... toilets, car park, any of the slopes (even if skinning up), ski down any of the inbound area (even if skinning up) .... say you skin up the side of a ski centre slope, and you slip and break your leg - would you expect ski patrol to help you ?

If the answer to any of the above questions is yes, I don't think it's too much to expect to pay a fee. They are a business, struggling at the best of times, never mind this year. They are not a charity.

My 2c!

For your £15 you do get 3 uplifts, i.e. enough to get up Glas Maol, plus parking.

Parking costs £5 this year if not buying lift ticket.

I did not realise the ticket included three lifts, so accepted.
Otherwise £5 for use of car park, well if I use the cafe I would expect use of toilet and parking, but then again if I park all day and don’t eat £5 is acceptable.
