As well as the opening date, there's the question of what it will cost to bubble across the water. Dave Hill has blogged this for The Guardian ...

Note these words ... "in February Boris Watch reported indications that we might be looking at anywhere between £1.50 and £3 per journey." Good to know that the speculation is closer to bus-sports than winter-sports. But then the lift is being incorporated into the tube map (albeit with quite a walk from the nearest stations. The station on the south bank of the Thames is about 400m from the O2 dome and North Greenwich station).

The Nevis Range gondola is £11.25 return (but they have mountain+sea views!).

The only other comparable system in the UK (I think) is at Alton Towers - the Skyride, built by Poma ...

By the way, Singapore is one of the few other cities that operates a gondola-type cablecar. Their system, which goes up to Mount Faber, has just been re-branded in an unusual way ...

There is the Great Orme Gondola in Wales which opened in the '60s and was judging by the grips probably built by Van Roll. Maybe at a height of 679ft you can argue it doesn't challenge Nevis Range's claim to the only mountain gondola in the UK, but I've always considered the claim at least slightly spurious.

There is also the Great Orme Tramway which is a street running funicular in Llandudno.

Who has the highest lift serveed point in Scotland (so obviuosly the UK)? Is it the top of the Ptarmigan. I know Cairngorm have the highest underground station,
and probably the highest Rail Station (Carpark)

Summit Button at Nevis Range tops out about 3910ft. A decent length of handle tow part way up the Marquis Well would give CairnGorm the highest lifted point, without entirely taking away the walk required to the Summit and to properly breach the watershed.

As for highest stations then the Summit Station at Snowdon is 3500ft.
