Nature on CairnGorm
Date Posted: 18.20hrs on Tue 2 Jul 13
I was walking down the daylodge not far from the dog leg the other day after a wee ski down the Ciste and came across a bit of a surprise, a frog/toad (don't know the difference) hopping through the heather. Is this normal? There are a few burns and marshy areas up there but I did not expect to see this, can the water coarse up there sustain tadpoles? It would have been a mammoth climb for the wee thing if it had come from the mountain garden. Any thoughts? And what happens in our cairngorm winter?
PS Mrs WM says the difference between a frog and a toad is if you kiss a frog it turns into a hansom prince. Not sure what happens to a toad!
