Jonathan and Stringy, if you'd like a jaunt up the Cheviot and Cross Fell over Easter then drop me a line! I'm almost certainly going to do them both.

Great stuff on the pictures.

I visited Great Whernside in the Yorkshire Dales on this blustery afternoon. The snow patches were entirely located (as expected) on the east facing slopes of the fell, with none facing west. Some of the patches were quite significant and seem to be the result of a number of accumulations adding to the depth in the hollows. I have attached some photographs of these. There were snow patches visible on other hills in the Dales but I could see none as large, so I suspect these may be the largest patches in the Yorkshire Dales. I will continue to keep an eye on them over the coming weeks.

Bit of a late post, snow patches viewed from a distance on the north side of Cheviot on the 29th March, in all the usual places plus a few other smaller patches. Couldn't see any on the south facing side though I was driving at the time so didn't get a proper look.

Patches still visible on Cheviot, south side patch still there as of the 5th April, despite the high temperatures this weekend, you have to zoom in on the pic but the patch is defo there and thanks to my eldest son for this pic.
The north side patches are hanging in as well, though some look a bit thin and broken, pic taken on the 4th April.

Fantastic day out on the hill yesterday with Stringy. Traversed about 20km, with blue skies and wall-to-wall sunshine. Only the occasional breeze, too.

Lugging a drone 20km over some steep terrain, in blazing sun and having a bout of tonsillitis, was very tough. I was glad to reach the car!

Lots of snow on offer, which I've captured on the drone.

It's a bit late, but last Monday's walk with Firefly was a greeat day to be out on the fells. There are some really deep accumulations in places that should, weather permitting be good at least well into May. I have attached a few photos from that day.

I also had a trip up Grisedale and over St. Sunday Crag on Friday. The views up Grisedale too Dollywaggon Pike and Nethermost Pike were spectacular. I was keen to see Cawk Cove below Fairfield and the NE aspect of St Sunday Crag as up until a couple of weeks ago this held a really big snow field. There were also some surprising patches at quite low altitudes (600m ish) particularly on Seat Sandel overlooking Grisedale Tarn.

The site on St Sunday still holds a good number of quite large patches up to 100m x 50m ish. The attached photo of the whole area shows a range of patches down to 600m altitude and in fact the lowest one in the picture looked the deepest so may last longest.

Great photos Stringy
Yesterday afternoon spent on Cheviot and despite the very sunny weather this last week there are still a few patches in surprising places though in general the 'main' patches are a lot smaller than normal.
As expected the biggest patches are in the Bellyside and Bizzle area but surprisingly there were smaller patches still in the Woolhope crag area, Hen hole and the south facing aspect of Cheviot
There was a small amount of fresh snow that had fallen that morning, thankfully it had stopped by the time I arrived and it was sunshine but chilly in the wind!

Esk Pike and Calf Cove 11/4/15. Calf Cove often often keeps snow into May and the patches on Esk Pike are amongst the L.akes longest lasting
