Just caught up wiht this before I settle down to the work I should have been doing all day. No, I couldn't get onto the MetO site earlier, haven't tried for about an hour. Kept getting timed out. TWO - no probs, a little slow at times but faster overall than it has been for ages. Mine's a double, will be back later for it cos I'm not going to work all evening - this snowfall is a wonderful excuse for not getting things in the post tomorrow and I intend to take advantage of it.

Well just me left here now. The rest of the office has been evacuated since two very heavy showers passed through Wensleydale this am and deposited about an inch(!) of snow. lots of excitement here.

Its cold though and the snow is very actively blowing around. Should be some action in the Pennines and Lakes later this week.

Off to Glenshee though on Friday. Hope they get something open there !

The Weatheroutlook has gone down due to many concurrent connections. There is a snow/weather thread here.

A thread for model/forecast discussion is available here.

Since we're all drumming fingers on tables waiting for the snow to thicken up, here's a quick recommendation to you non-teetotallers out there for a nice winter warmer. Someone bought me a bottle of 'Mulled Elderberry Wine' from the Cairn O'Mhor label for Christmas. I followed the instructions and stuck the open bottle in a pan of hot water on the stove until good and hot (but well below boiling).

Oh, yeeaaahhhhh.... Gorgeous spinning smiley sticking its tongue out

If you're not familiar with Cairn O'Mhor BTW, they are made near Errol between Perth and Dundee and have a fabulous range of unusual (and potent) fruit wines. The Bramble is (IMO) as good as an equivalent priced red, and the Oak Leaf whites are also superb. If you haven't tried 'em, you're missing out...

And that Mulled Elderberry is quite something. (hic)
