Looks like mild on the horizon for the next 10 days or more, apart from Mon...let's hope for some late snowfall.

That's either very wrong or a record, surely?

Not a record and probably not wrong (though this AWS has had some issues recently). It's a consequence of both a humidity inversion and Foehn effect off the higher peaks in the Nevis Range which are upwind of Aonach Mor. It is currently +7°c at 2800ft at Glencoe and +13°c was recorded this evening at the summit of CairnGorm.

Any idea what the record is, Alan? The figures from the AWS feed showed a brief peak in Cairngorm Summit temperatures above 15 C! There was also an error message though, so I don’t know how reliable they were.

Given the set-up, these temperatures are not meteorologically impossible mind...but surely it’s never been that warm up there in mid-February before?!

The Met Office appear to regard around 12°c as the top temperature on Cairn Gorm yesterday, and that conditions were very unusual but not entirely without precedent. The AWS website was showing higher temperatures yesterday but did also suggest an error.

if we work really hard on our carbon footprints, we could get the alps this warm too, just an extra couple of foreign ski holiday each should do it

An interesting stat is that January across Scotland was only +0.1°c from the 30 year climate mean where as January 2014 which saw uplift buried was +1.8°c wrt to that mean.

It was also a very dry January this year, a third of normal precipitation in the East Scotland Met Office Climate Region. Yet like in 2014 very deep lowers were forming as a result of the very cold air coming off the North American landmass - but lack of storminess has been a feature of this winter too here, they've just not made any progress Eastwards getting stalled out in the Atlantic instead of barrelling through.

Its getting worse.
Lotto winner in Dundee is looking to invest in Gleenshee.
She is wanting to buy 45% shares in the company?
That might be pushing things a bit far for £25? However, you never know?

You got to see the funny side!

Looks like North America and Russia are hogging the cold stuff for a while, we are stuck in the middle with no prospect of getting a share.
