Er...No.
But surely you understand that an independent Scotland would have plentiful snow every winter?

Of course, what was I thinking?!

Cause of all that hot air emanating from Bute House, most likely

What's the thoughts is this cold spell enough to extend the season a bit or is it time to put the storage wax on the skis and get the golf clubs

From what Ive seen over the last week or 2. Might get a spell of cold which can bring some snowfall (just like Glencoe dropping 20cm's overnight) but then you get the temps warming up a degree or 2 and it all just ends up falling off the side of the mountain as water the next day. Ground temps are probably too high and not enough of a base to keep any fresh through a milder period like we seeing now.

From looking at snow-forecast, temps are due to drop the start of next week, and plenty snow forecast for the Westerly regions...

Thats Glencoe's forecast...

However, come the weekend, azores high says hello again and dwarfs us all in warmer air.

Only thing I can see is the cold arriving from the West towards the states where they recently had some snowfall, which does seem to be pushing towards us at 240hrs (10days)

This is the ECM run..

But GFS for same time frame is vastly different and has it a lot further north.

Can it deliver the goods...or is it going to fade out into the north without any effect on us.

Snow-forecast is a joke.

And MWIS.

And Met Office.

Well now with the mild weather we are most likely to be back to square 1 after the weekend

Fingers crossed theres no rain to accelerate the warm temperatures. Even the run out through the next week looks warm. then drops to cold again, before the warm kicks back in.

The 18z GFS puts us into the freezer for the start of Easter weekend, sub -10°c 850hpa temperatures, sub 510dam air approaching and sub zero at all levels inland with the freezing level at the surface and heavy convective snowfall driven in on a strong to gale North to NW'ly! eye rolling smiley

Still a touch of cold looking forecast for the bank holiday weekend and the week after. What it brings is another thing.

There has been some snow on the upper slopes of the western area but enough for lift served snowsports

Well winter is still 10 days away on the GFS, though the idea pumped out 2 weeks ago for a cold Easter wasn't entirely wrong given we've seen a fair covering on the higher Munros this morning.

If we see something like is playing out in the GFS ensembles at the moment, then lift served riding on the May Bank Holiday weekend at CairnGorm and the Lecht could be a possibility. However this 10days out there's a "Day after Tomorrow " scenario has been constantly in the models all winter!
