First snow of the season could land on the 1st November. Very early, but be nice to have it showing its face.

If only it was 2 month later in late dec/january when things have properly cooled down.

Trend in the models for a quick cold blast moving in as October ends, shunted out of the way quickly before re-establishing itself in the first week of November.

Will it snow in time to keep H11lly's consecutive ski months run going ?

Some awesome northerly charts getting churned out at the moment off the GFS!

Either way....be a pretty bad storm from it!

Hints of colder weather next week. Northerly blast on the way.

A plunge of cold air but sliding East - snow showers likely throughout Sunday on CairnGorm, but could do with everything backing a wee bit to the west to increase instability off the Moray Firth.

Snow dancing for H11lly please - one shot at continuing her amazing run of consecutive months skiing on Scottish snow since November 2009!

Mild La Nina and negative NOA......my amateur take on that is less westerlies more northerlies and eastern driven winds

colder/normal with average or more snow

Certainly a lot of discussion of a colder winter over on netweather forums.

OK you chart-ists, what are the runes saying now? Anything to get excited about or shall I go back to sleep for a month or two?

Looks like a bit of a roller coaster this coming week, but should see more snow on the mountains at times, but from next weekend the trend is looking fairly cold - will that hold as we move through the week?

Going to get pretty cold over the next few days it would seem.

Plenty of agreement on models with similar outputs.

Hopefully due a pasting. Few have said the charts very similar to 2010 weather/cold/snow
