Polar high at christmas dat (day6) on most models...should be interesting to see how the vortex gets shoved around from that.

Too little too late for xmas holidays crowd.
Its great for us guys. However, we need the punters to book from down south to make a real impact.
This warm spell is really shit .

Could still be enough over boxing day/new year and the first week in 2018? Not sure when the scottish schools return, but England is the 8th Jan this year.

Harley I drive up from Manchester for the day and drive back at night, does that count as southerner? Haha. I don't think Coe will be too disappointed given they usually open later anyway, probably grateful for the early revenue. Given how Christmas falls first week of Jan should be fine for school hols etc. This sort of thaw has got to be expected I guess, just hope that the snow sticks around in the upper mountain gullies

I bet thats a fair drive from Manchester!

I drove up on sat 16th to the Coe and took me 4hrs 10mins from Durham, so can only imagine its similar for you. Long way to drive there and back in a day, just gets boring IMHO; especially on the way back.

Aye, circa 5 hours with food stop, just about manageable in a day and much easier late season when it doesn't go dark at 4pm.

As feared it looks like a square one scenario for the West. the 2 inches plus of rain on Saturday should see the last of the drifts disappear before some snow over Christmas. sh*te.

Still looking good on the models too. -8 to -10 uppers from the east. Hopefully all the resorts benefit from it. Certainly no thaw happening from the looks on the charts.

Looks like a easterly could all be close to being written off...but how about a north westerly for the western resorts?

Looks like weather sooo up in the air at the minute with a battleground scenario tontry decide who wins. Easterly is looking less favourable now but we also have the chunk of polar maritime air from the west that hit the USA last week. Interesting to see how it pans out at 120hrs away.

For hose who know Scottish weather. What possible outcomes wouldnone see of s huge chunk of polar maritime air hitting the north west coast of Scotland? Would it bring plenty of snow? What 850hpa temps are generally favoured for westerlies?
