Is some cold in the 850hpa charts of -8c and -10c at times, but I cant see it bringing much, especially at this time of the year.

Chances are, be a few cold evenings with a touch of frost/fog on a morning and thats it.

Forget any snow or storms IMHO.

ECM has a nice drop of pressure at +216hrs.

GFS however says nope.

Its been the story of 2016/2017 really. Awesome looking charts at +10 days, but only one or 2 of them come about and delivered any goods.

Some North facing slopes exposed to the sea to the North are going to get a pasting over the next 48 to 72 hours:

We cannot be far away from the Daily Express running a "Arctic Chill Shock " front page.
However in the meantime here's Metcheck

Be interesting to see how this winter plays outS. Already had some unusual weather come in from Ophelia and looks like there could be some more storms from the Atlantic into next weekend.

Hopefully the resorts will get the much needed snowfall they are long overdue.

Netweather's model has also been pointing to above-average blocking to the north and/or east of the UK during the following winter, but this signal does not kick in during the autumn months.

Sea surface temperatures are generally forecast to be above normal except for that cold blob over the North Atlantic which has been persistent over the past few years and there is speculation that it could be related to melting Arctic sea ice and a weakening of the warm ocean current from the Gulf Stream.
